Merge Programs

Post by ifficles »

Hello Void,

I'm not sure if this is feasible or not, but merge Everything with Quick-par. Imagine this, you've got pics scattered across multiple drives. You load the par files to repair those files, and yet there are some missing. Usually you would use Everything to find the files you're missing, and hope they've got the correct file markers. Instead of having to move the files, why not have an enhanced Quick-par.

Now this is where the "magic" happens. By enhanced, this is what I mean. You load the par files to fix what is missing. After quick-par has completed the first scan, it, using the algorithm in everything, goes out. Scouring your files looking for the exact match for the missing file markers. When the program finds a match, it moves the file to the directory where the par files are stored. And then, boom, all of your files are complete. This is only a suggestion, but it would be awesome to see it in action.

You could use Everything (in command line mode) to output a list of found files to a temporary file & then use that list in conjunction with a batch file or otherwise to do what you want, I would think.

IOW Everything would be one part of the process, that part that finds your .par files, & once you have that list of files, well, then its up to you to process them further ;-).

(For reference & I know nothing of it, QuickPar tutorial.)
