Why do I sometimes see "Read Extended Information" instead of Properties in context menu?
I was logged into Windows 7 as an administrator. Some files in c:\windows\system32 (but not all) do not have a Properties item in the right click context menu of a file. For example, when I Search Everything for wpcumi.dll and right click on it, I do NOT see Properties in the menu. The last item is "Read Extended Information". And when I click on "Read Extended Information," I see nothing happen. But when I find the same file in Windows Explorer, I DO see the Properties item in the context menu.
I often need Properties information. Why can't I always see the Properties dialog box on a file found with Everything?
I can find nothing online about "Read Extended Information" with Everything or with Properties. And I found nothing here on the VoidTools forum.
PS: I LOVE Everything and have told lots of folks about it. This is my first real problem with it.
"Read Extended Information" instead of Properties?
Re: "Read Extended Information" instead of Properties?
Thanks for your quick reply.
I chose the x86 version because it was smaller and faster. I can live with this one missing feature. But new question:
Q: Only x64 context menu extensions will work in Everything (in x64 version). Does that mean it won't show a Context menu on 32 bit files?

It doesn't matter if the file you click on is 32bit or 64bit. It depends on the implementation of the context menu handler.Q: Only x64 context menu extensions will work in Everything (in x64 version). Does that mean it won't show a Context menu on 32 bit files?
The context menu should always show, but some menu items may be missing (for example, Extract here... on zip files).
Re: "Read Extended Information" instead of Properties?
Thanks. Sorry to keep asking here.
What I want to know is if I can see the Properties menu item for 32 bit files, if I use the 64 bit version of Everything.
Or will the 64 bit version of Everything show me ""Read Extended Information" on the 32 bit files, instead of Properties?

The x64 (64bit) version of Everything will show the Properties menu item for system32 files.
